Hello all! We're very much alive despite not posting here recently. You can keep up with us by checking out our FB-page. We'll try to post here more too, sorry about the silence.
This friday 18.11 we'll be performing in Poppari, Jyvaskyla. Then we'll take a little break to try and finish our third album (it's doing quite good already!) so come check us out if possible, it might be while until next show! Our albums will also be available for purchase (it's Christmas time soon, folks!) at 12€/piece.
Have a great end of the 2011!

PopMatters' Alan Brown reviews Of Dreams Long Gone:
"Not unlike the North American folk and Americana that influences them, Captain Cougarís music is a melting pot of European and Nordic flavors, both old and new. With acoustic guitars, electric bass, keys, sweeping strings, gently plucked banjo, mandolin, and kantele, the Finnish quintetís second long-player, Of Dreams Long Gone, is a lush, multi-layered concept album which follows one coupleís courageous journey from 1916 to 1963 through the hardest of lives.
Lead singer Eva Louhivuoriís beautiful, crystalline voice narrates this melancholy tale as the unnamed Finnish husband and wife meet, marry, undergo forced separation during the bloody civil war of 1918, and finally flee from their broken homeland, where suspicion is rife, to work in the mines of Minnesota. Listen to this cohesive 13-song cycle in one sitting, with the lovingly annotated and illustrated liner notes in your lap, and feel yourself irrevocably drawn into the unfolding, tragic tale of love and hope which must end in death. Captivating stuff."
There have been major changes in Captain Cougar's line-up. Turo & Antti are obligated to leave the group due to their other band RˆdsˆgÂrden getting awfully busy in -09. This is causing some major scheduling problems, so we thought that it's best for them to depart at this point. We wish all the best for the guys and RˆdsˆgÂrden! Check them out at : http://www.myspace.com/rodsogarden.
Two excellent and creative new musicians will now be joining Captain Cougar.
Juha-Matti Rautiainen has played bass for among others Wee People, Surftones and Qwenland. Now he's agreed to bring his considerable talents aboard!
Juha Kujanp‰‰ plays keyboard instruments and is known for his work in jazz and contermporary folk music scene. Juha's bands include Poutaja, Kirjava Lintu, J‰rvel‰-Kujanp‰‰-Niku, Ville Ojanen Rautavaara and Kuha.
Now the team is ready to go on with the sessions for our second album. This recruiting process has of course caused a little bit of delay. It seems likely that the album won't be out until -10, but we'll let you know how things are going!
We wish a very melodic -09 to all our friends! Keep posted.
